KAREN PORKKA
Welcome

Thanks for stopping by my site.

CD NEWS -  I am happy to announce that  Butterfly Bridge is done. Hooray! I will be having a couple mini CD releases this summer leading up to the Grand CD release with full band on December 5 at the Yardbird Suite.  Thanks to all the great musicians who played on it.  Thom Bennett, Thom Golub, Jamie Philp, Mo Lefever, Chris Andrew, Wayne Feschuk, Dan Churchill, Mony Matthews, Bob Tildesley, JC Jones and Dwayne Hyrnkiw. They all did a fantastic job and I couldn't be happier. Here are some of the new songs from the CD. I hope you will like them too. If you wish to have the CD sooner than that please contact me and I will send one to you or they will be available from CD Baby online or Blackbyrd Music in Edmonton.

Butterfly Bridge

I have also posted an original composition Ash On My Belly that is on a compilation CD called Unsound 2 created by the Borealis Electro Acoustic Music Society (BEAMS) and a song from my 2008 EP
No Regrets Rhumba.

    • Hearing your voice sends waves of energy through me that are unexplainable... you have such a gift. Thank you for sharing it! The mountains thank you as your music sends them into a soft peaceful sway!! Let it rise up my friend let it RISE UP!!

    • Sounds Great Karen! Makes me want to light some candles, pour a big glass of vino and spark up some herb. I hope that's what you were going for... Keep pushing forward... (and I love that I happen to be visitor number 6666)

    • I discovered a treasure in Edmonton, hidden away in coffee shops she belts out melodious tunes on her saxophone. She is the type of person you may pass by on the street without a second thought, yet once she sings she 'drops the needle on your heart' and leaves an indelible mark. Her lyrics offer comfort like the hug from a dear friend and her approachableness makes you feel like one. Thank you for sharing your talent with us, Karen! I look forward to your new CD and hearing you again at the Jazz Festival.
